*Walk-ins welcome.  Must Register on-line 72 hours prior to conference in order to attend conference sponsored meals. A Student is defined as currently carrying at least half an academic load in either an undergraduate or graduate program in any area of study. A student ID is required.

Transportation

Embassy Suites has a free shuttle to and from the airport from 6 am -11 pm.  The airport is 10 miles from the hotel.   Please call hotel when you land at 916-326-5000.   On return to the airport the shuttle leaves in one hour increments and arrangements can be made at the front desk.

Course Objectives

Objectives for CSCR 2012 Conference- “The Heart of Cardiac Rehab”

This exciting educational program is designed to present the latest information regarding advances and new challenges facing cardiac rehabilitation by an outstanding faculty.

The presentation topics were selected in response to requests by previous attendees and will focus on areas that are currently pertinent to the cardiac rehabilitation provider, present updates on clinical applications, and review results of the latest research in cardiology.

 

Who should attend: Physicians, Nurses, Exercise Physiologists, Dietitians, Pulmonary Rehabilitation professionals, students, other allied healthcare professionals and cardiac rehabilitation patients.

 

Upon completion attendees will be able to:

 

  1. Identify two processes within their own Cardiac Rehabilitation Program that will change in order to comply with CMS Regulations and National Guidelines.
  2. Understand two reasons that the history of coronary artery disease and how diagnosis and assessment through current imaging technology are important for current clinical practice.
  3. Discuss the exercise therapy treatment plan for cardiac rehabilitation patients who are diabetic.
  4. Identify three techniques for talking to our patients to help motivate them to change their lifestyle behaviors.
  5. Recognize the role of high intensity exercise therapy for patients as a part of achieving their treatment plan goals.
  6. Understand the three ways that the Da Vinci Surgical System™ is used for cardiac surgery and the implications for post operative recovery.
  7. Discuss the specifics of diagnosing women and heart disease and how treatment therapies are targeted based on gender differences.
  8. Determine how patients with heart failure are currently diagnosed, clinically treated and benefit from the cardiac rehabilitation program structure.
  9. Review the current clinical practices and research on CHAMP™ and the future of tele-management for the treatment of heart failure and chronic disease.
  10.  Review the current management of arrhythmias and the how treatment devices such as internal pacemakers, internal defibrillators and external defibrillators impact the cardiac rehabilitation patient.
  11.  Discuss the current therapies for weight loss for risk factor reduction in cardiac patients.
